Happy Valentines Day!

We made cookies for Valentines day.

While I mixed up the dough the kids stired up some fruit snacks.
And then we cut out the cookies.
But I didnt have any heart cookie cutters and it took FOREVER to cut them out with a knife. Plus the kids couldnt really help much with that so we used star cookie cutters.

The Birthday Recap!

We went with my sister and my mom  to Discovery Gateway.  The kids had a blast.  The adult had an anxiety attack from all the kids that were there.  It was alot more fun when the school of kids left and it was alot mroe quiet!
There was a horse.

and a grocery store.  They really liked picking up the food out of a truck and putting it back on the shelves.

Parker opening his gift from mom and dad.  It was Hiro.  He has been asking for Hiro since way before christmas.  Unfortunately we found out that Hiro is hard to get and at christmas time we were having a hard time getting him.  All the ones we could find that were a reasonable price were over seas and  for some reason they were having problems shipping them to the states.  So when Jordan found a reasonably priced one for his birthday we were pretty excited.  (I never could have imagined I would be searching high and low for a toy for my child so early in his life.  And now I can understand a bit the crazy people on black friday going after that toy of the season.  Although I wont EVER do that!  EVER!!!)
opening up his gift from Grandma and Grandpa Nelson.

Its was another train.  This trains name was rusty.  Im pretty sure his uncles had more fun putting together his tracks than he did. hehehe
The birthday song.
 Blowing out the candles.
I've made Pj a football cake for  the last three years.  This year he asked for it.  I was super happy that he would ask for  such an easy cake.  Plus he chose chocolate. mmmmmm my favorite.
I STILL cant believe I have a four year old!!

Happy Birthday Parker!!!

Today Pj is 4!!!!  I cant believe its been four years already!  I've been thinking alot about what an adventure it has been.  I remember the day we brough thim home  from the hospital and he didnt want to sleep.  Finally at 6am I woke Jordan up and told him to go get a bottle from the store.  (Which turned out to be PINK!!).
He is such an amazingly sweet little boy.  He shares his toys (for the most part).  He is VERY cautious!  He refused to actually walk until he knew he could do it.  Which ment he walked around on his knees, putting holes in all his pants till he was 15 months old!  But once he knows how to do something watch out!
This little boy has taught his mother ALOT!  Like patience, unconditional love, how to really laugh, and what being a mother is really like (which I absolutely love, all of it!)!
Parker is a great big brother!  Just this morning when I was in the bathroom I heard Paisley start crying.  Then I hear Pj comforting her and saying he was sorry and it was an accident.

He can count all the way up to fifteen (further Im sure)  But if you ask him to he will pretend like he cant.
When you ask him how old he is he will ask to count your fingures!\
I love you Parker!

Prayer!

I have been pondering prayer for quite sometime now.  Admittedly I havent put in the study time that I have been needing to understand it.    I've actually been questioning it in my head.  I have been wondering what is the point of praying to Heavenly Father for things I need.  It just didnt make sense to me.  Through out my life I have ganed a trust in my Heavenly Father.  I know that he knows what is best for me.  I still realized the importance of prayer.  It helps me to stay close to and become closer to my Heavenly Father.  But why do I need to ask Him for things that I need?  I mean I had asked for lots of things and never really got them.  I asked for things I really felt like I needed.  And alot of the times the answer was no Dusty you really dont need that right now.  So I just started feeling like what was the point.  Tonight I came across some words that I felt really were a help and a blessing to me.  They were in a talk given by  Elder David A. Bednar
"The object of our prayers should not be to present a wish list or a series of requests but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is eager to bestow, according to His will and timing. Every sincere prayer is heard and answered by our Heavenly Father, but the answers we receive may not be what we expect or come to us when we want or in the way we anticipate."

Looking back I know those things I asked for werent what I really needed.  I knew it back then when I got the answer of no.  Of course we are going to get no answers.  I mean every morning I have to tell Pj no he can't have a cookie for breakfast.  He still askes though cause he just doesnt understand that it really isnt healthy to eat that kind of stuff for breakfast.  I to just dont understand yet why what ever it is that I ask for isnt right for me at the time.  And the journey to figure it out is what helps me to grow closer to my Heavenly Father and to become more wise.  Plus its how I can become more Christ like.

I also learned my prayers need alot of work.  I often find myself just running through that list and never really stopping to ponder and listen to what my Heavenly Father has to tell me.  Life just gets more crazy the older you get.  I seem to be filling my life with things that while are good are not the most important thing.  So yes Heavenly Father does know what is best for me and sometimes I just have to learn a lesson instead of just get the answer that I want.   Which now that I think of it is really funny.  At work I find myself saying "go do some problem solving and then come back and talk to me about what you have come up with."  Heavenly Father has basically been doing that for us.  That is why we need to pray for things.  Bring him some of the solutions that we have come up with and then talk with Him about what the answer is.

Christmas 2011!

Sorry this is so late!  Christmas Eve we spent at home as a family.  It was really nice.
After Jordan got off work at 9am we let them open their two presants from the Nelson Grandparents!
They both get the concept of opening gifts now.

And they LOVED the Jammies they got!
Christmas morning we had to wait till 930AM or so for Jordan to get home from work.  I should have taken a picture of the sheet.  I put a sheet up over the stairs in front of the gate so they couldnt see the tree and all their gifts before Jordan got home.  Pj seemed a bit upset by that.  We watched christmas shows in bed till he got home.  Then......
We got to open all the gifts!  Pj LOVED his Cranky and almost didnt want to open the other gifts.  (ALMOST!)

Pai was excited for each and every gift she got even her shoes. Even her big girl underwear.
The holidays were really nice to our little family!  I got the whole weekend off and it was so nice to be home for once!!
